I've been here twice. The service is always top notch. Love the Lamb!!!! I will most definitely be back as often as I can.

Our group had a tough experience at Sul Lago this past Friday. Food was hit or miss--don't bother with the flat bread (basically a frozen pizza) or mussels. The croquettes were wonderful. Regarding entrees, the table favorite was the beef tip pasta. The bread was delicious though we questioned why a nice and arguable pricey restaurant didn't offer complimentary bread (especially to a table that dropped serious cash on multiple bottles of wine, apps, and market special entrees)--felt cheap. Service was the real downfall. Half the table got drinks right away, we had to ask someone to take drink orders for the rest of the group. We had to ask for menus. Took a long time for our server to bring back drinks and over 45 minutes for food. After the wait, one person was brought the wrong entree (to which she was allergic and couldn't eat). We got some apologies and they put a new order in; I would have liked a visit and apologies from the manager as well. After the other errors through the night, we wanted to check the bill but weren't able to because it was just a list of prices with no detail about what items were on there and what they cost (on a bill exceeding $500 and had a full 18% gratuity added on). I would never go back to Sul Lago after this experience. Seems most people had a far better time at Sul Lago, so I guess our visit was an anomaly. Like all the other reviews, it is hard to find the restaurant.

The price is way too high for the food here. Location is sub par. Service was only so so. With the prices paid here the environment and services should be much better.

They have the best filet of any restaurant I've ever been to. My wife loves the Parm chicken, probably the only chicken entree I would ever order at a restaurant. Lasagna is average, but the spagetti and sausage/truffle oil are excellent.

Best steak filet in the south metro by far. Prep yourself for a slow dining experience and order multiple courses. Stuffed mushrooms are great, salads are fresh and every entree I've tried has been awesome, whether steak, seafood or pasta! Prior lake gem.

I was so excited for our Party of 4 diner reservations at Sul Lago... We were greeted and able to be seated right away but the service was TERRIBLE!!!!!! We waited for water, we waited for our server, we had to ask for bread and it took for ever to get it, we had to ask for drink refills, we sat with dirty dishes and empty glasses in front of us for the majority of the experience. The food was okay but for the price of our meal - I WOULD NEVER GO BACK. SO DISAPPOINTING

Lived in Prior Lake for four years and just learned of this great place. The food and service were both excellent. Great selection of moderate and pricey dishes make it easy to find something for any occasion. It is a small venue in an unassuming location but the food is equal to any downtown 4-star restaurant.

First, the restaurant is a little hard to find. It's actually housed in what looks like a senior living complex. We parked in the lot and walked from one end of the complex to the other until we finally ran into it, discreetly tucked away on the second floor. The interior is very tastefully done. We had reservations and were seated immediately, though I don't think it would've been a problem if we hadn't. There were a few tables of patrons, but I would say they were only at about 1/4 capacity on the Sunday evening we dined there. The only reason I mention the capacity is because there were many open tables, but the hostess seated us right next to a very loud table of four. One young lady at the table yacked non-stop for the entire 2 hours we were there. She had opinions on everything, and by the time we left, I feel we knew most of her life story. That aside, the rest of the meal was great. We had a very attentive server, who stopped by frequently to refill glasses and bring more bread. My wife had the butternut squash risotto, a dish she's had at other places. It was perfectly cooked, though a bit on the sweet side for my own taste (I am one of those people who hate when cooks drown squash in brown sugar - or worse: marshmallows). I had the duck, which consisted of two legs placed over a bed of risotto, with a port reduction sauce. The duck was excellent. It was the perfect combination of crispy skin and tender meat. The risotto and sauce also get high marks, though I wish there had been a little more of the sauce. The richness of the meal paired nicely with a glass of the simple, but flavorful, house Malbec. For dessert we split the blueberry bread pudding, which was delicious. The only downside of the experience was the noisy folks next to us. That's not the fault of the restaurant, but it did make me take note of all the hard, reflective surfaces in the place, which could make for a potentially loud dining experience on a busy night. A few sound-proofing touches (curtains, rugs, etc.) might help dampen the noise.

Great food; really great. Seasoning was spot on in every dish. The Scallop Gnocchi was amazing. Walleye special very very good. Blueberry bread pudding should not be missed. Not what most people would be expecting for an Italian restaurant; more Northern Italian. Leave the nuclear red, acidic marinara sauce out of your mind- here you'll get great Italian food with a bit of French influence. While the service was good, the food was the hero tonight. The most stressful part of the evening was deciding what to order- just about everything on the menu looked great. Atmosphere was very nice. An odd location for such a nice place, but if you know to look for it in a weird place, you'll find it. I'm already looking forward to going back.

I never make it to the South Metro, so when a girlfriend and I were venturing to Mystic Lake for the evening (and the Prior Lake VFW wasn't serving food) I whipped out the Yelp App to see what was up. Perrons' was very good, and I second it was also very hard to find, we had to literally follow the crowd. There were nice wine options, decent prices, and homemade pastas and sauces. If I lived in the area it would definitely be a "go-to". I supped on the cheese ravioli with bolognese so I could try both their pasta and sauce. I found the cheese in the ravioli to be somewhat salty but overall was impressed. The Caesar I started with was quite lemony but enjoyable. All in all a nice spot in the burbs.

My wife and i had heard decent reviews of this place and we decided to trek outside of the city for a nice dinner. First of I will tip my hat to the service we received, some of the most accommodating in a while. The reason I give it two stars is that we ordered a bottle of wine to start our meal, and our server came back to explain they did not have that particular bottle in stock at the moment, understandable. We attempted to order a second bottle, but low and behold our server had to come back empty handed once again and awkwardly explain that they did not have that in either. Third time was a charm, we went with the recommendation of our server, and we finally had our drinks set. My wife ordered the mediterranean pasta with scallops, the scallops were good, but the pasta was mediocre at best. It tasted like a cheap boxed pasta and the dish itself seemed like something I could easily make at home. As a place that touts itself as an italian bistro and that charges the prices they do I would expect a fresh or at least high quality pasta. I personally ordered the ribeye, which was cooked to perfection and was definitely large in size, but came served on a bed of lettuce so I ordered a side of risotto with it . The risotto was slightly over cooked ( i prefer al dente) and over salted. I would say my meal was good, but at that price point I could go to an upper end steak house without traveling the distance. In my opinion, you are looking for a nice evening getaway there are places that I would choose over Sul Lago. Maybe with some tweaks to the menu and a slimming down to a more manageable wine list this place would receive higher ratings, but we most likely will not be returning.

This place is such a gem. Billy at the bar gives great suggestions for food pairings and everyone is so NICE! The food is spectacular. Specifically the Tuscan Sirloin Au Poivre with the cognac cream sauce....Todd you are amazing! OMG, I have cravings for this dish. The scallops are also amazing. The blueberry bread pudding is the best I've ever had. The home-made Limoncello and various flavors are not something you get every day at a suburbia Italian restaurant and should be experienced. Oh dear...now I'm hungry for Sul Lago!

the food here is fantastic, but the service is not....Arrived at 7:30, didn't leave until 10pm...not intentional either. 2 menu's for 4 people, no silverware to start, appetizer came 1 hour in; salads the next hour, main course 2.5 hours later....waitress came back once for each course to ask us how things were.....At the end of the night she spilled oil on my handbag and all over my dress pants. She felt bad, but didn't offer to take care of anything. She brought club soda, which clearly doesn't work on oil...pants are ruined, handbag is stained....neither are cheap items. not going to go back...big bummer because the food rocks!

A real nice spot here in Prior Lake. Definitely not small town cuisine or wine list. A fabulous date night destination.

I live literally across the street which makes it VERY VERY hard to not eat there every single night. My husband and I have been regulars for 7 years - it's like our own private restaurant. When we considered moving to Victoria, I genuinley thought 'Oh, we'll have to drive a lot further to go to Sul Lago', as one of my considerations. Sounds crazy, but its true! We bring all of our guests here and even had our wedding rehearsal dinner there in 2007. They were wonderful and our friends and families are still talking about the food three years later. We never go downtown or to uptown for dinner. We would rather drive 1 block, park free and enjoy a reasonable evening that we know won't disappoint us. Even when compared to meals we had in Italy, Perron's Sul Lago was as good, if not better and remains a true favorite. It's also lovley to enjoy thier homemade cellos (lemon, grapefruit, orange) on the patio in the summer then stroll down the path to the lake trails. PERFECTION!

Recommended to us by locals, we decided a 25-mile road trip would be worth it. We visited on a Saturday night in April 2012. It was not. We had an evening reservation and were promptly seated at the worst booth in the restaurant -- the draft from outside hit our table every time the door opened. We asked to be moved and were given a pleasant table with a view of the lake -- with a blinking spot light over our table that the server admitted had been a problem for awhile, but hadn't been fixed... We each had an entree with risotto - two of us with the broiled salmon, the other a dish that had chicken and vegetables prepared with the risotto. The salmon was delicious, but all the risottos were over-salted. It was clear that for regular customers, this is a great hang out and unique among other options in Prior Lake. We have no idea what other reviewers experienced that led them to compare this to other fine eating establishments in Minneapolis proper or other high-quality restaurants. Its not true! For the distance we traveled, it was a large disappointment, over-priced and over-salted.

If someone were to blind-fold you and bring you into Perron's you would swear you were Uptown Mpls rather than in Prior Lake. Great service, great food. Very enjoyable!

My husband and I both had martinis, which were just ok. The food was amaaaazing though. We had the mushroom croquettes as an appetizer, then the cioppino and my husband had the duck. All the food was top notch. Will return!

Here is a letter I wrote to the restaurant and there response - the response didnt sit with me well which prompted me to share this with you ... Hello I was about to do a review on Yelp - but being that I do love you guys decided to write you directly verses speaking poorly in public. I was there on Thursday with a bunch of girlfriends. I ordered the cheese plate - One slice (barely) a sliver of cheese with some honey, pine nuts a scoop of a berry does not make a cheese plate. I order the cheese plate in just about every restaurant we visit. If you want to see a beautiful presentation of a cheese plate - visit Public Kitchen and Bar in St. Paul (same price as yours). I was just in Valencia CA and the cheese plate I ordered was a masterpiece - a variety of amazing cheese(s) (same price as yours). What you are serving is something a chef would send out as just a something to snack on before your appetizer came. For the price, presentation, lack of cheese, this was disgraceful and misleading. Why offer an entire basket of cheese for one sliver of cheese? You could do more cheese, and three slices of bread (toasted) To My Yelp Peeps: This sliver of cheese with a squirt of honey, a few pine nuts and compote, a full basket of bread was $12.00 THE RESPONSE: Thanks for the reply. It is a featured cheese every month that we do. If your server said cheese plate my apologies . The cheese we offered is very expensive and that is why we priced it the way we did . YELP: There is no way outside of Paris paired with a fabulous glass of wine that this sliver would have been VERY EXPENSIVE. This is not a cheese plate as indicated on their "special board" Do not order it if you go there. Now, do they have the best Raviolis that I have had out of NY - YES!!! According to my friend, they have they best steak salad even though she said they have NEVER gotten her temperature correct - She loves it.

Hi, I like Italian food because carbs make the world go round. I ate at this little gem not expecting much as it isn't a huge place. Despite having to practically wear a lit miners helmet to see my food because it was so dark in there, I liked the ambience and how quiet it was. The food was great, I ate spaghetti. I know, real original. The stuffed mushrooms were great and the spaghetti was amaze-balls. The staff was courteous, and followed the third rule of "Roadhouse!" To a "t."

I'll put it this way: My wife and I are flying to Minneapolis for our first anniversary just to eat at Perron's Sul Lago again.

Good food, the lamb is delicious. Good selection of wines and the Martinis are quite tasty. I would not recommend bringing small children but for older youth that appreciate good food, yes.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
